How to get TABC and Texas DSHS accredited Food Handlers Certificates Online

  1. First make your course choice. You will be transferred to the enrollment page (All courses and exams are powered by Learn2Serve, our online partner since 2002)
  2. After enrollment you will receive a confirmation email with courses and / or exam instructions
  3. Your courses are self-paced. You can start and stop when you want. However, once you start the TABC exam you must finish .
  4. Note: There is No Exam for the food handler part of the package
  5. Print your certificates after you pass the TABC exam. (Don't have a printer? Log in and print on any other printer)
  6. Note: Lost your certificate or need another copy? Log back in to reprint it. Reprint Certificate Here

TABC and DSHS approved Food Handler Certification Requirements

  • Texas TABC requires you to provide a Social Security Number or IRS Tax Number
  • Any Age person can be TABC Certified, however you must be at least 18 to be an alcohol server on-premise (bar, restaurant, hotel, etc.)
  • You must be at least 21 to work in a package liquor store
  • You must be 18 to sell high alcohol percentage wine (either 14% or 17% depending on the type of business license) in a store for off premise consumption
  • There is no minimum age to sell low alcohol percentage beer and wine at a C-Store or Grocery Store
  • If you are not sure about the age you have to be to sell at your business or business hours call the TABC Office.
  • Note: If you need to renew your TABC Certification there is no actual renewal. You must retake the course and exam again as you did the first time
  • Food Handler: There are no age or identification requirements to get your Food Handler Certification. Ask your potential employer for any age restrictions in order to be employed
  • If your employer requires a food handler card, the certificate must be from a DSHS approved or an ANSI accredited source. We offer both certificates. (ask your employer which version of food handler you need)
